Come Closer

DAY 9 OF 14

Studies show: When a mother and child play together, their heartbeats can synchronize—even without physical contact.
Shared attention on the same activity is enough.
A shared now.
The child’s body adapts.
It follows the rhythm, not because it has to, but because it feels safe.

Jesus paints a similar picture when He says:
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest...
For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NLT)
Not: “Get it together.”
But: “Stop running in your own rhythm. Come into Mine.”

God’s rhythm isn’t a schedule—it’s an invitation to realign your inner pace.
Like a child orienting itself to its mother’s heartbeat...not because it understands everything, but because it feels secure.

But what does that mean in the middle of a stressful life?

When you have kids who never let you sleep through the night.
When your job never really stops.
When responsibility is so loud you can barely hear your own heartbeat anymore.
Then God's rhythm sounds like a nice idea—maybe for later.
Maybe for others.

But maybe that’s the point:
That His rhythm isn’t about a life without responsibilities, but about a heart that doesn’t lose itself in all it has to do.

God’s rhythm might reveal itself today—quietly:

  • A peaceful moment in the car;
  • A short, honest prayer in the hallway;
  • A pause with the thought: “I am not alone.”

And sometimes His rhythm also means slowing down—wherever possible.
Questioning our social media time.
Not doing everything at once.
Not doing everything perfectly.
Maybe not today, but soon.
After a season of giving: A time of receiving.

You don’t always have to move faster.
Maybe God's invitation today is:
Less pressure—more presence.

“Jesus, where can I live in Your rhythm today?”
