## The effect of jealousy and envy (2) Jealous and envious people's behaviour is negative, and their behaviour hurts and harms others and tries to bring them "down" to their level. They will continually try to explain to others that they are better than someone else, deserve to be treated better, make negative statements about others, engage in plots to degrade and destroy individuals or a group, or prevent others from being recognized for what they have done. The origin of jealousy and envy 1\. Rejection and feelings of insecurity and inferiority (insecurity) are probably the leading causes of jealousy and envy. All people are born with deep insecurity. It is also the result of dreams that have not materialized or when there is a lack of sufficient positive encouragement and love. 2\. Jealousy and envy are also born out of fear when one feels threatened or hurt. Sometimes, people feel threatened by others with charisma, particular intellectual abilities, academic achievements, wealth, reputation, position, and fame. 3\. A critical element of jealousy is that, among other things, it suspects God of injustice. Jealousy believes that God is making a mistake. A jealous person is not satisfied with what he has. He wants something different. He wants what he believes makes the other person look better than himself and what he believes is more fun or important than what he has. In Romans 9:20-21, we read , Man, who are you after all that you want to reason with God? How can the creature say to its maker, "Why did you make me this way?" Doesn't the potter have the right to make something special and something mundane out of the same lump of clay?" Jealous people are not satisfied with how God made them or how God wants to use them. One of the deep roots of jealousy is rebellion against God. Jealousy pretends that "it is important to keep the facts in mind." Jealousy always leads to a critical spirit. Jealousy cannot exist without feelings of injustice, e.g., "That person got the award, but if you think carefully about it, I should have actually gotten it." A jealous person is forced to talk about his wrongdoing, and when such a person speaks, it will always be accompanied by condemnation, self-pity, and criticism. We can't talk about it. Jealousy is a sin that the jealous person does not dare to admit. Probably the biggest problem that prevents people from getting free from jealousy is that people deny that they are jealous.
