The Campus Mission Field

The college campus is more than a place to learn—it’s a mission field, full of people searching for identity, purpose, and truth.

Every fall, thousands of students step onto campus unsure of who they are and what they believe. Many are living away from home for the first time. For some, this is the first season where they begin wrestling with questions of faith on their own. They’re no longer adopting their parents’ beliefs, but deciding what they will believe for themselves.

And that’s exactly why you’re there.

Jesus said the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. College students are wide open to influence. They’re forming their worldview. They’re making decisions that will shape the rest of their lives. And in a culture offering countless roads—pleasure, performance, popularity—someone needs to show them the way of Jesus.

The campus is also an incredibly strategic place for global impact. Today, over one million international students are studying at just over 200 campuses across the United States. What an opportunity! When these students hear the Gospel and respond in faith, they don’t just leave with a degree—they leave with a mission. Many will return home carrying the message of Jesus to families, communities, and nations.

Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, once said, “If we can win the campus today, we will win the world tomorrow.”

And he was right.

College students are some of the most sendable people on the planet. They graduate ready to go anywhere, work anywhere, and live anywhere. What if we didn’t just hope they landed in good places, but sent them with Gospel purpose?

The harvest is ready. The campus is calling. Let’s ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers and be prepared to go ourselves.
