The Gospel of Matthew

DAY 29 OF 30

He Knows Pain

Pain is something we all try to avoid. It’s uncomfortable, overwhelming, and sometimes even isolating. But what gives me hope is knowing that Jesus isn’t distant from our suffering—He knows it firsthand. He’s not a Savior who simply sympathizes from afar; He’s walked through betrayal, abandonment, and deep agony.

In one of the darkest chapters of His life, Jesus was handed over by a friend, arrested by His enemies, and denied by someone who had vowed never to leave Him. And through it all, He didn’t run. He faced it—for us.

When we’re in pain, we can draw near to Jesus, knowing He understands. He doesn’t brush off our sorrow or tell us to “get over it.” Instead, He invites us to sit with Him in the garden, to weep in honesty, and to trust that His love goes deeper than our wounds.

You’re not alone in your pain. The One who took your place on the cross is with you still.

Respond to God’s Word:

Take a moment to thank Jesus for enduring suffering for your sake. Let His example strengthen you in your own moments of pain and remind you that He truly understands.
