The Gospel of Matthew

DAY 28 OF 30

As Unto the Lord

I’ve noticed something in myself lately—there are times I’m not doing things as unto the Lord. I can tell when it’s about people’s recognition instead of God’s glory. I get more irritable. I take things personally. I feel overlooked or frustrated when my efforts aren’t acknowledged. It’s in those moments that I realize I’m serving for approval, not from a place of love and obedience to Christ.

But when I shift back to doing things unto the Lord, everything changes. There’s more peace in my heart. I extend grace more easily. I’m more patient and joyful—even if no one notices what I did. My motivation becomes worship, not applause.

Jesus taught powerful truths about being ready, being faithful, and showing compassion. That kind of life isn’t lived for the approval of people—it’s lived out of deep devotion to Him.

If you struggle with this like I do, take heart. We don’t have to stay stuck in that mindset. We can reset our hearts today and ask God to help us serve from a place of love.

Respond to God’s Word:

Think of someone who needs your time, care, or support. Serve them today—not for recognition, but as an offering to the Lord.
