The Gospel of Matthew

DAY 23 OF 30

Living for the King

We’re so used to doing what we want, when we want. That’s often the goal in our culture—freedom to chase our preferences, comforts, and timing. But life in Christ is different. To live in Christ is to live for Christ.

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, He was celebrated as King. Yet shortly after, He confronted the empty rituals of religion—people who honored God with their lips but not with their lives. They loved the idea of God’s presence but resisted His authority.

Welcoming Jesus as King isn’t just a one-time moment—it’s a daily decision. It means surrendering not just our hearts, but our habits, priorities, and choices. It means letting Him reign over our desires, even when they clash with His will.

Is there a place in your life where you’ve kept control—your time, your money, your relationships, your plans? Jesus isn’t interested in being a guest in your life. He wants to be King.

When we give Him full authority, we experience the kind of purpose, freedom, and joy that only come from living in step with the One who made us.

Respond to God’s Word:

Choose one area of your life You’ve noticed you’ve take control of yourself and invite Jesus to rule as King over it.
