DAY 6 OF 25

THE GOD OF THE PAST

“Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.” Joshua 4:5b-7 (NIV)

The 12 stones carried by the Israelites stand as a powerful symbol of God’s unwavering faithfulness. They weren’t just stones; they were living testimonies of God’s deliverance, a reminder to future generations of His mighty hand at work.

This is the foundation of our church’s name—the 12 stones serve as a memorial, not only of what God did for Israel but of the continuous ways He moves in our lives. Each stone represents a moment when God parted the waters for His people, when He made a way where there seemed to be no way.

These stones call us to remember, reflect, and share the unforgettable moments when God moved on our behalf. They invite us to cherish the power of remembrance, the power of telling our stories, and the power of staying rooted in God’s faithfulness.

CHALLENGE:

This week, share with someone—whether a child, friend, or younger believer—about God’s faithfulness in your life. Teach them how He has provided, protected, and guided you, passing on the legacy of His faithfulness.

PRAYER THOUGHT:

Take a moment to thank God for your testimony. Reflect on His faithfulness, the “stones” in your life that have made you who you are today, and the moments when God moved in unforgettable ways.
