WORSHIP IS WARFARE

“When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.” Joshua 6:5 (NIV)

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” 1 Corinthians 10:4 (NIV)

When the Israelites faced the fortified city of Jericho, their victory wasn’t dependent on military strength but on their faith in God’s power. God commanded them to march, blow trumpets, and shout in worship. It wasn’t the noise or their efforts that brought the walls down—it was their belief in God’s ability to win the battle for them.

Worship is an expression of trust in God’s strength, not our own. When we face battles in life—whether fear, doubt, or overwhelming circumstances—we don’t fight alone. Instead, we worship the One who fights for us. Worship declares our belief that God is bigger than any stronghold and that victory is already secured through Him.

The act of worship shifts our focus from the size of the obstacle to the greatness of our God. It is not about what we can do, but about believing in what He will do. When we worship, we surrender control and proclaim that the battle belongs to the Lord.

CHALLENGE:

Dedicate 10 minutes today to worship God through song, prayer, or meditation on His Word. Use this time to remind yourself of His power and surrender your battles to Him.

Right now, lean into the reality that our worship is warfare. Identify the one thing in your life that feels impossible for God to conquer, then surrender it to Him in faith.
