THE PROMISE OF GOD’S PRESENCE
“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5 (NIV)
What an incredible promise! One of the most comforting truths about God is His unwavering faithfulness. He is true to His word, and we can always trust that what He says, He will do.
God said something similar to Moses when he was facing doubt and fear for what he was being called into:
“Moses answered God, ‘But why me? What makes You think that I could ever go to Pharaoh and lead the children of Israel out of Egypt?’
‘I’ll be with you,’ God said.” Exodus 3:1 1-12a (The Message Paraphrase)
We have all asked the same question Moses did: “But why me, God? Why not someone else?” What Moses had to learn was that the promise of God’s presence doesn’t mean the absence of hardships; rather, it means that He will be with us through every trial and every unknown.
God was faithful to His promise to Moses, just as He was to Joshua. So, when God tells Joshua that He will be with him and never forsake him, we can be certain He means it. There is no greater comfort, no deeper assurance than knowing that God’s presence is with us every step of the way.
Just as God was with Moses and Joshua, He is with us today. His presence is an unshakeable promise that will never fail or abandon us, no matter the challenges or paths we face.
CHALLENGE:
Reach out to someone who may be facing a difficult situation. Share with them the truth from Joshua 1:5 and remind them that God will never leave them. Pray with them, asking for God’s comfort and strength as they navigate their challenges, and encourage them to trust in His faithful presence.
PRAYER THOUGHT:
Reflect on the truth of God’s unwavering presence with you. Pray for the courage to rely on His presence through any challenges you may face, knowing that He will never leave you or forsake you.
