BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” Joshua 1:7 (NIV)

Have you ever stepped into the unknown? Maybe it was a new job, transitioning from middle school to high school, or becoming a parent. We’ve all faced moments filled with uncertainty. God’s promises for our lives are often journeys into the unknown where we grow to trust in Him. The journey is inevitable and sometimes comes uninvited, but how we traverse it is often our greatest challenge. Do we shrink back in fear, or do we do what God told Joshua to do?

Joshua’s step was a bold move from 40 years of wandering in the desert into the uncertainty of the Promised Land. God knew the journey ahead would be filled with challenges, so He repeatedly commanded Joshua to “be strong and very courageous.”

God didn’t leave Joshua to face the unknown alone, though. He gave clear direction through the law, urging him to stay rooted in God’s word and not stray, despite challenges ahead.

Like Joshua, we face the unknown, requiring courage and strength, but we’re not alone—we have Scripture to guide us and remind us of God’s promises. The same God who led Joshua will lead us if we stay anchored in His Word.

CHALLENGE:

Joshua was called to obey God’s commands without deviation. Commit to memorize Joshua 1:7 this week and use it as an anchor when facing the unknown or uncertainty.

PRAYER THOUGHT:

Go to God as your guide today. Right now, amid the unknown and uncertainties of life, choose to follow Him. Ask for courage to continue through the hardships and strength to face your fears. But most of all, ask for a heart that relies on His Word alone.
