DAY 14 OF 25

DON’T STAND ALONE

“As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up— one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.” Exodus 17:11-13 (NIV)

In Exodus 17, we find the Israelites in battle against the Amalekites. As Moses lifted his hands in prayer and trust, the battle was won. But when his hands grew tired and dropped, the Israelites began to lose. God, in His wisdom, provided help through Aaron and Hur. They came alongside Moses and supported his weary arms, ensuring the victory was secured.

This powerful image shows us that victory doesn’t come from our own strength but from trusting in God’s power. However, we aren’t meant to fight alone. Just as Moses had Aaron and Hur hold up his arms, we are called to surround ourselves with others who will lift us up in prayer, support us, and walk alongside us in our struggles.

There will be times when our faith feels weak, when our arms grow tired, and we feel like giving up, but this story reminds us that we don’t have to carry the burden alone. God provides people (the Church) in our lives to stand with us and help us press on.

CHALLENGE:

Reach out to someone who could use your support today. Offer to pray or walk alongside them in their challenge. Also, identify someone you can lean on for strength. Don’t stand alone in your battles; invite others into your journey.

PRAYER THOUGHT:

Reflect on a moment you experienced the church in a way that led you to a place of peace. Maybe it was a sermon, a small group, or a moment of prayer and worship. Thank God for His Church!
