Refresh My Soul: Discovering God’s Promises for a Purposeful LifeIhe Nhụchatụ

Day 9: Make the Shift from Worry to Trust
During His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus spoke directly to the daily worries of life—what to eat, what to wear, how to move forward when resources feel thin. His words reached anxious hearts then, and they still speak to ours now.
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:31-33 NIV).
Worry tries to keep our attention on everything that could go wrong. It multiplies the “what ifs” and weighs us down with burdens we were never meant to carry. But Jesus invites us to focus differently—to look for Him first, knowing He already sees every need.
Trust grows when we pause long enough to remember who God is. He’s not unaware or distant. He knows what concerns you right now, and He’s faithful to provide what’s needed at the right time.
Seeking Him first doesn’t mean we pretend the needs aren’t real; it means we choose to begin with His presence and His promises. That’s where peace starts.
APPLICATION
Every time you notice a worry rising today, stop and pray: “God, I choose to seek You first.”
- PRAY
Father, You already know what I need. Help me stop striving and start trusting. Teach me to seek You above everything else. Thank You for caring for me so completely. Amen.
- SAY
I seek God first, and He is faithful to care for every need.
- ASK
What worry have I been carrying—and how can I turn it into a moment of trust?
