Day 13: Trusting God's Intentions

Joseph’s life didn’t unfold the way he might have hoped. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned—he had every reason to question what God was doing. Yet through it all, Joseph remained faithful. He trusted that even in the lowest moments, God was still at work.

Years later, when Joseph stood face to face with his brothers (the very ones who had caused his suffering), his words revealed a deeper understanding of God’s hand in his story:

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20 NIV).

Joseph didn’t minimize the pain. He acknowledged the harm. But he also saw the bigger picture: God’s redemptive purpose working through every hardship.

When life takes unexpected turns, it’s easy to lose sight of that perspective. But God’s intentions are never to harm us. His heart is always for healing, redemption, and restoration. Even when we don’t understand the process, we can trust the One who holds the outcome.

You may be walking through a chapter that feels confusing or unfair. But the Author hasn’t finished writing. His intentions for you are seeded in love, and He is still working behind the scenes.

APPLICATION

Pause today and ask: What am I struggling to understand right now? Invite God to help you see His hand in it—even if just one small part.

God, I may not understand everything, but I trust You. Help me believe that You are working for good, even when the path feels uncertain. Strengthen my heart to follow where You lead. Amen.

• SAY

I trust God’s intentions. He is working in ways I can’t always see.

• ASK

Where do I need to surrender control and trust that God is still writing the story?
