Refresh My Soul: Discovering God’s Promises for a Purposeful LifeIhe Nhụchatụ

Day 22: Still Waters
Jessica was a busy mom of three, working full-time and involved in her church’s ministry team. On paper, she was doing all the right things. But inside, she felt spiritually dry and emotionally drained. She rarely had a moment to herself, and even her quiet times had turned into checklists.
One morning, after snapping at her children over something small, she broke down in tears and whispered a prayer she hadn’t spoken in a while: “God, I miss You.”
Later that day, while folding laundry, Jessica remembered Psalm 23—a chapter she had memorized as a child.
“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul” (Psalm 23:2–3 ESV).
The Shepherd of your souls offers peace and rest—and leads you into it.
Stopping at the still waters helps us to step away from the noise and wait quietly with our Shepherd. In stillness, we remember who we are—and as important, who He is.
APPLICATION
Carve out a 10-minute moment of quiet today—no distractions, no agenda. Simply sit quietly in God’s presence and let Him lead you beside still waters.
- PRAY
Shepherd of my soul, thank You for Your gentle invitation to rest. Restore my soul as I sit with You in quiet trust. Amen.
- SAY
God leads me beside still waters. In His presence, I find quiet rest and soul-deep peace.
- ASK
What is keeping me from the stillness—and what might happen if I give myself permission to pause?
