Isaiah 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
No matter what our situation is, a fresh encounter with the Lord is what we need. It will change what we are going through and transform our lives.
Isaiah was a prophet of God and as such would be ministering to God’s people and declaring to them what God was saying. However, our text says that he saw the Lord in the year that King Uzziah died. This King was perhaps so dominating that he occluded the prophet’s vision of God. His death removed the barrier to Isaiah’s seeing of God.
What’s stopping my ‘vision’ of God? Is there something so big in my life that it blocks my view of God? I’m unable to experience God afresh because of things that are monopolising my attention. It could be good things like my family, career, or friends. I can discern this by evaluating what occupies my thoughts and my time.
As God’s people, we are to encounter God regularly by spending time with Him, hearing his voice, experiencing his peace and being still in his presence. For this we need to ‘kill’ our Uzziahs. What are yours, and what are mine? We will become extravagant worshipers as we don’t allow anything to block our view of God.
