Moses points out that those who lived through the wilderness had glued themselves tightly to God. The attachment to God is often tested by sexual forces in these Biblical stories. Moses mentions the sexual lures of the god of Moab called Baal-peor. Real attachment love is always stronger than sexual feelings. All of us have felt the pull between the two forces. When our human relationships are not so strong, how well does our attachment to God hold? Moses points out that we should attach to God because no other being is as close as our God.
