James (the half-brother of Jesus) and 1 & 2 Peter (one of Jesus’ disciples) are the authors of the general epistles. Unlike many of Paul’s Letters, which were written to specific people, addressing specific situations, James and Peter wrote with more general audiences in mind. As a result, their letters have widespread application, and they speak to situations many Christians face, including living out our faith, persevering through trials, and staying true to the teachings of Jesus.
