Luke continues his account of Jesus’ birth, life and death and their impact on the then known world to Theophilus. Acts is a book of action. We see the birth of the Church as the disciples receive the promise of the Holy Spirit and begin to boldly tell others about Jesus. Signs and wonders are abundant, and the Church is growing rapidly which causes concern from the Jewish leaders. Persecution of those proclaiming Jesus leads to prison and death.
