May 2 – The Inspiration of Scripture
The inspiration of Scripture means that its origin is divine, not human. Though written by men across different generations, cultures, and contexts, the source of what was written is God Himself. The writers did not act independently or express personal opinions; they spoke as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. This makes Scripture not just a record of ideas, but a transmission of God’s mind.
This matters because it establishes the reliability and divine authority of the Bible. If Scripture is inspired by God, then it carries His integrity. It can be trusted, depended on, and built upon. It is not subject to human error in its intent and message. For the believer, this means confidence. You are not navigating life with guesswork; you are guided by what God has already revealed.
If the inspiration of Scripture is ignored or weakened, the Bible becomes negotiable. People begin to treat it as an opinion, selecting what is convenient and discarding what is uncomfortable. Once that happens, truth becomes relative, and authority is lost. A believer without confidence in the inspiration of Scripture will struggle to stand firm in anything.
DAILY EXERCISE
Write down:
- Who is the true source of Scripture
- Why that gives you confidence in God’s Word
PRAYER
Father, thank You because Your Word is not human opinion but Your divine expression. Help me to trust fully in the inspiration of Scripture and to rely on it without doubt. I pray for believers, students, leaders, and families across Nigeria that their confidence in Your Word will be strengthened and that they will stand firmly on its truth. Lord, we ask that Your Word be honoured across nations. Let the Church worldwide return to the authority of inspired Scripture. Remove confusion and establish clarity among people of all ages, and let Your truth prevail globally.
CONFESSION
I believe in the divine inspiration of Scripture. God’s Word is true, reliable, and authoritative in my life.
