More Than Words - the Transforming Power of Prayer

DAY 9 OF 14

Praise in Pain

Pain is inescapable in this world. But there is a way to escape it once we experience it. The answer may surprise you – Praise! The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people. The more we praise Him for His goodness, the less aware we are of our pain. Praise is the best antidote for the blues. As you praise the Lord, your mind and soul begin focusing on His blessings and His goodness. An attitude of gratitude begins to develop.

Russ Taff and the Imperials sang a popular song many years ago called “Praise the Lord.” There is a line in that song that says, “For the chains that seem to bind you, serve only to remind you that they drop powerless behind you when you praise Him.” This is so true! There is a freedom that occurs when we praise the Lord. It is a freedom from the chains of our problems that bind us and tie us up in knots. Satan knows that if we are overcome with sadness, we will be unable to serve the Lord. The devil loves seeing people become defeated by their problems. But the Lord loves seeing people filled with joy. The Bible says, “The joy of the Lord is your strength!”

You have the choice today to dwell on your problems or to dwell on His goodness. You can focus on what is going wrong, or you can focus on what is going right. You can give in to the pain of your problems, or you can be an overcomer by praising the Lord and focusing on His goodness!

Ask Yourself:

Am I going to dwell on my problems today or will I praise the Lord for all of His goodness!

About this Plan

More Than Words - the Transforming Power of Prayer

Prayer is more than asking—it’s how we draw near to God, hear His voice, and walk in His peace. Over 14 days, you’ll learn to pray continually, approach God boldly, build a daily rhythm of solitude, use the ACTS framework, praise through pain, “pray your day,” seek wise agreement with others, and trust Jesus with every decision. Come closer as a friend of God—and be changed from the inside out.
