More Than Words - the Transforming Power of Prayer

DAY 8 OF 14

Praise the Lord, Oh My Soul!

The first verse of Psalm 103 (NIV) gives you your instructions for the day. It reads, “Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.” You need to start your day by praising and blessing God. David goes on to tell us in verse two, to “forget not all his benefits."

Then he goes on to tell us some of the benefits that God offers to his children. He reminds us that it is God who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases. Whatever you’ve done, He’s forgiven you. If you’re sick today, He’s the one who can heal you. If you’ve been sick in the past and have been healed, He was the one who did it.

As we continue, we see that God redeems your life from the pit, or destruction. The enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy you, and Christ has saved you from the enemy. He is your redeemer!

He crowns you with His love and compassion. His mercies are new every morning. He’s kind to you. He satisfies your desires with good things. Stop and think about the good things that the Lord has done in your life and how He’s satisfied you. This should never be taken for granted.

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in mercy and love. He loves us so much. He hasn’t dealt with you according to what you deserve. He is worthy to be blessed and praised. I want to encourage you to do just that.

Think about all that He’s doing in your life and just take a moment right now to pray, “Father, I do bless your holy name. I thank you for your goodness to me; I thank you for forgiving me of ALL my sins. Lord, the mercies that you show me are new every morning. I ask you to meet my needs today. I can never praise you enough for all you do for me. I ask you to do great things today. Amen.”

Ask Yourself:

Will I take time to bless and honor the Lord today?

About this Plan

More Than Words - the Transforming Power of Prayer

Prayer is more than asking—it’s how we draw near to God, hear His voice, and walk in His peace. Over 14 days, you’ll learn to pray continually, approach God boldly, build a daily rhythm of solitude, use the ACTS framework, praise through pain, “pray your day,” seek wise agreement with others, and trust Jesus with every decision. Come closer as a friend of God—and be changed from the inside out.
