Hand Over the Remote
Hearing about such a traumatic event can be devastating, and understandably, you are overwhelmed by a whirlwind of emotions—shock, anger, hurt, or even a sense of loss for the intimacy you once knew. Perhaps you feel unfairly burdened, as if you are carrying the weight of a crime you did not commit. Or maybe rejected, as you unintentionally trigger painful memories for your wife. And there is the frustration of facing a problem that you can't fix in a few minutes.
As you face these emotions, remember Romans 12:12 (NIV), which says, "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." This verse gives us a few gentle reminders. First, hope still exists even in the darkest moments. Second, be patient as you navigate this difficult path, knowing that healing often comes slowly. Above all, remain faithful in prayer because James 5:16 says that the prayers of a righteous person are powerful and effective.
Whatever your emotions, recognize them and take the time to process each one. Managing your feelings is no small task, but you do not have to do it alone. A Christian counselor can be a lifeline, helping you navigate this unexpected hike. If therapy seems intimidating, consider reaching out to a godly mentor who can support you along the way. Most importantly, take your feelings to the One who crafted them. He is the ultimate therapist, with the best couch and no hourly fee. God invites you to come as you are, with all your anger and fears, and He promises wisdom to those who ask. You do not have to be the hero in this story. The real hero is the One who knows every piece of both your heart and hers.
So, grab a seat, hand over the remote to the Almighty, and let Him be the One who guides your heart along this steep hike. After all, He has seen every season of your life and is the ultimate binge-watcher of your story. Trust Him to turn even the messiest episodes into something beautiful.
