In summary, every husband is to love his wife as himself, and every wife should respect her husband and submit to him. That’s not always easy to do, but it’s easy enough to grasp. Paul compares husbands to Christ: they should love, nourish and cherish their wives as Christ loves and cares for the church. He even gave his life for her. This sets a really high standard!
