Walking With Jesus Exemple

The final temptation we will read about today is the lust of the eyes.
Lust of the eyes can often say “I deserve it.” Have you ever told yourself that? I know I have at times. In today’s Scripture Satan shows Jesus all the Kingdoms of the world and their splendor. Satan tells Jesus he’ll give Him all these things if He bows down to Him. Remember our definition of temptation? Temptation is anything that promises satisfaction at the cost of obedience to God. Jesus was tempted with the lust of the eyes by Satan saying “All this I will give to you.” Sounds promising for one simple act but the cost would have been disobedience to God. I mean if anyone deserves all the Kingdoms of the world it’s Jesus right? I mean He’s Jesus. What I love is that Jesus responded with an attitude of humility.
When tempted to say “I deserve it” let’s replace it with “Only Jesus.” Casting Crowns has a song called Only Jesus and there’s a line in the song that says
All the kingdoms built, all the trophies won
Will crumble into dust when it's said and done.
Today’s Scripture:Matthew 4: 1-11 and Matthew 4:8-10
Pray. Ask God to reveal to you His truths as you read His Word. Don’t skip this important step.
Read: As you read ask the “5 W’s and an H” questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
Daily Challenge: Memorize the response of Jesus: “Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.”
