-Eternal Perspective-
Having an eternal perspective as we navigate through life is paramount, especially when facing the inevitable trials God promises we will encounter (James 1:2-3). To have an eternal perspective is to be kingdom-minded. This means that we know our identity is rooted in Jesus and that everything we do is to glorify God’s kingdom. This heavenly vantage point doesn’t just magically appear in our minds and thoughts even if we have knowledge about God. It truly takes wisdom to live by it. Knowledge alone, without understanding or applied in love, can create pride in all of us; or as Paul puts it, “knowledge puffs up, but love builds up" (1 Cor. 8:1). Fortunately, we are able to put in a request to the source of wisdom who gives it to all generously, without disapproval no matter our past faults and failures (James 1:5). Living with eternity in mind allows us to see the big picture of what matters most so we can make the biggest kingdom impact while we can. In James chapter 4, Jesus’s half-brother gives us the sobering truth about our lives; that we are like a mist that appears for a little time then vanishes (James 4:14). This verse is always humbling yet motivating for me to do all I can to glorify God while His breath of life is still in me.
*Prayer:
God grant us the wisdom to daily live from a divine perspective, allowing us to nail the desires of our flesh to the cross to be crucified there. Let your Holy Spirit lead us so that we may produce spiritual fruit that accomplishes your will and brings unending glory to you alone. In the mighty name of Jesus - Amen!
À propos de ce plan

Although the title of this devotional is FATHERS it’s not subject to fathers only, nor is it a list of do’s and dont's for parents. The title FATHERS is an acronym for some of the qualities we should have to reflect the character of our Heavenly Father. In doing so we automatically become better parents and people as we mirror our creator. Written by Matt Forté, NFL All-star Running back.
