Eyes Fixed on Jesus
Hebrews 12:2
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame…”
When running, it’s helpful to have a goal that motivates us and focuses our attention. The writer of Hebrews calls us to look at Jesus intently, consider his life, his death, his motivation for the life of faith and his example. He is the writer of our faith stories and our coach as we follow his script. There is no price he was unwilling to pay for our salvation. Consider what benefit we are gaining from Jesus’ delayed gratification and reward. As we seek to follow Jesus in our race of faith, let us keep our eyes fixed on him. Let us also take up our cross, die to self and live for Jesus. In losing our lives we will find the life that is truly life!
Lord Jesus, my eyes are on you today. May I run well, for your glory.
