Paul understood that as he suffered like Jesus, God was going to mold him to be more like Jesus. The goal is not just to be able to endure times of mourning, because we know that God is with us. Not just to get through times of suffering because we know God is using it to shape our hearts and minds. The goal is that we would come to know how amazing it is to be transformed into the likeness of Christ that we would actually welcome and embrace the hard times or difficult seasons.  

Write out or audibly pray to God an honest prayer about where you are suffering, going through a difficult season, or hard situation. Instead of running away from suffering, what would it look like to embrace it? What might God be teaching you through it?
