Dead, But Not Done

“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live… Do you believe this?” (vv25-26)

Start talking:
• Have you ever had a situation where you knew something was difficult, but you didn’t realize just how difficult it was until you were in the middle of it?
• If you had to describe your current season with one word—faith, doubt, discouragement, waiting, hope, or something else—what would it be?

Start Thinking:
• Thomas, Mary, and Martha each responded differently to what was happening. How do you see doubt, discouragement, and delay showing up in their responses?
• Jesus told Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life.” How is that different from simply saying, “I can perform a resurrection”?
• What do you think Jesus meant when He said, “Do you believe this?” Why do you think that question is still important for us today?
• Pastor Troy said, “God’s delay doesn’t mean God’s absence, and God’s delay doesn’t mean God’s denial.” How can that truth be difficult to believe when we’re waiting?

Start Sharing:
• Have you ever experienced a season when you felt like God was delayed? What did that do to your faith?
• Have you ever wrestled with doubts about God because of something you experienced? How did you work through those doubts?
• Where in your life right now do you need an “even now” moment—where you can say, “Even now, I know God is still God”?
• Is there something in your life that feels spiritually or emotionally “dead” that you need to invite Jesus to bring back to life?

Start Praying:
• Ask God to meet those who are struggling with doubt.
• Pray for those who are discouraged or losing hope.
• Pray for those who are waiting on God, asking for faith to trust Him even in the delay.

Start Doing:
• Identify one area where you’ve been saying, “Why bother?” and intentionally bring it to Jesus this week.
• When you encounter discouragement, pause and remind yourself: “Even now, God is still at work.”
• Look for someone who is struggling with doubt, discouragement, or waiting, and be an encouragement to them this week.

DAILY CHALLENGE:
Every day this week, identify one situation that feels dead, delayed, or hopeless and intentionally bring it to Jesus. Pray, “Jesus, even now, I believe You are still at work. Help me trust You when I can’t see what You’re doing.”
Then take one step of faith instead of one step of fear—pray, forgive, encourage someone, reach out, serve, or simply keep trusting.

Remember: Your circumstances may not have changed yet, but God hasn’t changed. Even now, He is still the Resurrection and the Life.
