Sermon Title: Blessed are the Meek

Once again we see Jesus attaching a blessing to being meek and also this reward of inheriting the earth.

This word in the greek for Meek is Praus. It means gentle, lowly, mild or restrained. Meekness isn't weakness, but simply power under control.

Jesus is our example.

Jesus was not not a weak man, he was a meek man.
he was self controlled.

He did not use his power to his own advantage. He was the king of the Earth yet he came to serve and wash the feat of the one who would betray him!

The same power that split the seas and defeated israel's armies is in his hand! Yet, he came to serve and even die for his enemies. This is meekness.

The jews were looking for a king to come and defeat their enemies!! The prophet Zacariah told them years ago how he would come.

His meekness is what set him up to now be seated in the highest place.
The best way up is down!

We don't take on the world with aggression and dominance-

Jesus was not a pushover.

Meek people don't jump to their own defense but patiently wait for God to vindicate them.

This is hard to do, not trying to jump to our own defense especially when we are being lied to or rejected.

Jesus didn't have to prove himself to the people who were not receiving him, Jesus knew who he was.

Jesus trusted in Gods plans and purposes and endured the calling on his life.

Being meek is about trusting God's purposes and plans for our lives and understanding that he works all things for Good.

The meek will inherit the Earth?

Jesus was teaching them that Inheriting the earth is not going to be with military power but with power of the blood of Jesus is wash away sin and draw everyone into his kingdom through grave and Faith in what he accomplished.

Simply put, "Our God wins."

We can still, be bold for our faith and stand up for injustice and act in humility and not forgetting to love our enemies and serve the People around us.
