Dear Lord Jesus,

You are the Lord of the church! As we look in the Scripture, You confidently assert in Matthew 16 that You will build Your church and nothing will prevail against it. In the book of Acts, we see You continuing to build Your church throughout the Roman Empire. Now in our day, we see the expansion of Your church throughout the world! We are reminded that You present Yourself in Revelation, walking among Your churches and guiding their progress. You are the Lord of the church!

Since You are the Lord of the church - all true churches - we come before You now and we pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are living in war-torn or persecuted sections of this world today. May they continue to shine Your Light in the dark places around them. May You provide for their needs - physical and spiritual, and may the church continue to add to its number daily those who are being saved.

Your church, Lord, has always grown amidst hardship - our faith began on a cross after all. Therefore, we know that You will continue to build Your church through these tough times; not because the believers in these environments are so strong, but because they are secure in You, and You are with them. May our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world be encouraged today through the fruit of our prayers.
