The Bible's Business Plan

DAY 3 OF 31

“By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.” Genesis 2:2 NASB

BUSINESS BIBLE

The Bible says more than what you think it says about work. You may have heard that work is a curse, but the Bible says we are created to work. In the beginning, God works, and we are created in His image, male and female, to work![1] Jesus also declares that He is about the Father’s business, "that My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”[2] In other words, work is good, and it is part of God’s original design for us. “Work” in Hebrew means worship and service; “work” in Greek is an inner desire to use our outward abilities for a higher purpose. When we discover how to use our abilities for a higher purpose, we fulfill an inner desire.

But we are not only created to work, we are also commanded to work 6 days and rest from our work on the 7th day. So, work hard and with all our hearts.[3] Then stop work, rest, and appreciate all that God is doing for us.

[1]Genesis 1; Genesis 2.

[2]John 5:17

[3]Colossians 3:23.

PRAY

Lord, help me to finish my work and enter into your rest.
