The Bible's Business Plan

DAY 7 OF 31

"'There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!' Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.” Proverbs 31:29-31 NLT

BUSINESS BIBLE

Men and women are created to work and protect the earth. According to Solomon, women share the same attributes for work as men, but they are uniquely wrapped in kindness. In the Hebrew language, a virtuous and capable woman is one with strength, moral worth, business acumen, and wealth. The queen of Sheba is described in this manner.

Jewish, Babylonian, and Egyptian cultures valued women in the marketplace as skillful merchants and for their purchasing power as consumers. Women could own property, manage their own businesses, and enter contracts. Proverbs describes the virtuous businesswoman’s faith, family, work, and community. She watches over the affairs of her household, which include all the family’s assets, hired workers, and properties.

Businesswomen are essential in God’s Plan for work and human flourishing.

PRAY

Lord, help me to know that I am honored in my work.
