DAY 7 OF 10

The Power of the Resurrection

“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.’” —Matthew 28:5–6, NIV

Imagine that someone you love has reached the end of their earthly life, and you’ve laid them to rest. Days later, you visit their tomb and find it empty. An angel tells you they’ve risen. Imagine the wonder, fear, or doubt, you might experience.

These were some of the emotions of the first witnesses of Jesus’ resurrection. This victorious moment is not just a past event but the beginning of a new era filled with hope.

In Matthew 28:5–6 (NIV), the angel says: “[Jesus] is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” These words were more than just an announcement—they marked a turning point in human history. The resurrection opened the door to communion with the Father and affirmed that death doesn’t have the final word. Just as He rose and ascended into heaven, He will return for us (Acts 1:9–11).

We can pass on to the next generation this amazing truth: Jesus’ resurrection transforms and prepares us for eternal union with Him. The resurrection signifies God’s “incomparably great power” that is also available to believers today (Ephesians 1:19, NIV). We are anchored in the truth of Christ’s resurrection. His victory means we no longer live in fear but in hope, trusting in His faithfulness.

Christine D’Clario

What does it mean that Jesus proclaimed victory over death? What can you do this week to trust God more with your fears?

Risen Jesus, thank You that I find life and hope in Your resurrection. Please help me trust in Your victory and share this truth with the world. Amen.

Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself as faithful, eternal, loving, and purposeful. While this is most clearly shown with Him giving us His precious Son so we can find life in knowing Him, the story detailing just how far God goes for us started thousands of years before. These 10 inspiring devotions created with Miel San Marcos invite you to reflect on who God is and how His message of hope always endures. No matter your past or present story, our perfect Father wants you to be part of His plan to redeem all things.
