God of Generations

DAY 10 OF 10

I Am God’s Child

“You did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’” —Romans 8:15, NKJV

God is teaching me what it means to be His daughter. Although I grew up in a home centered on Him, I didn’t understand what it meant to be His child. My parents and grandparents taught me about God and their faith, but it was my turn to say yes to becoming a believer in Jesus. I always believed Iwasn’t enough, that I had to do something to earn His love.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, in a difficult moment, I had an encounter with God that transformed my life. I saw how He was calling me back to my first love—back to Himself. I saw the fruit of my family’s prayers and understood that the God of my parents was also my God. I can call Him Abba Father, not because of my works, but because Jesus died on the cross for my sins.

When Christ sacrificed Himself for us, He freed us from sin and separation from God. In Romans 8, we learn that those who turn from sin and accept Jesus as their Savior are “led by the Spirit of God” and “are the children of God” (Romans 8:14, NIV). We’re adopted by God and get to call Him “Abba Father” (Romans 8:15, NIV). God longs to have a close relationship with us, and we don’t have to do anything to earn that relationship, but we do need to respond. Will you trust Jesus and be adopted into His forever family today?

Where are you in your relationship with God? If you’ve trusted Jesus, what does it mean for you to call Him Father?

Jesus, thank You for Your sacrifice on the cross and for adopting me. Please help me to grow in my relationship with You and to reflect Your love here on earth. Amen.

About this Plan

God of Generations

Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself as faithful, eternal, loving, and purposeful. While this is most clearly shown with Him giving us His precious Son so we can find life in knowing Him, the story detailing just how far God goes for us started thousands of years before. These 10 inspiring devotions created with Miel San Marcos invite you to reflect on who God is and how His message of hope always endures. No matter your past or present story, our perfect Father wants you to be part of His plan to redeem all things.
