Jesus, the Fulfilled Promise
““No matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ.” —2 Corinthians 1:20, NIV
Growing up as a missionary kid, I saw firsthand what it meant to trust God’s promises. My father and mother dedicated their lives to sharing the gospel, and even when things got hard, their faith never wavered. They lived with the deep conviction that God would be faithful, no matter the cost.
The people of Israel knew what it meant to wait on God’s promises. For centuries, they longed for the Savior. Isaiah prophesied His coming (Isaiah 7:14). Micah foretold His birthplace (Micah 5:2). Then, one day in a synagogue, Jesus unrolled the scroll of Isaiah and declared, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing” (Luke 4:21, NIV). The waiting was over.
But what about when we wait—and nothing seems to change? When the hardship lingers and the prayers feel unanswered?
Hold on to this: God is faithful. Every promise in the Old Testament has been fulfilled in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:18–22). If God can fulfill more than three hundred prophecies, He can help you in your struggles. And even if the hardship does not end in this life, God promises salvation through Jesus from the pain and struggles sin has wrought on this world. If God kept His word in sending Jesus, He will keep His word to you.

In what area of your life do you need to remember that God is faithful? How can you remind yourself today that Jesus is the fulfillment of all God has promised?
God, thank You because in Jesus, I see the fulfillment of Your promises. Please help me trust in Your faithfulness, even when the hardships persist. Amen.
