Hebrews

DAY 15 OF 22

My wife and I are currently watching a series about the White House. It’s fascinating how complicated it is, even for ministers, to get an appointment with the President. Access to the Oval Office is difficult, and many dream of speaking in person with the most powerful man in the world.

But if you belong to Jesus, you have access that is immeasurably more valuable! It’s not just access to someone with political power, but to the Creator of the entire universe—the One who holds all authority and can truly help you. Jesus Himself has opened the way to God for you.

Yet we must be aware of whom we are approaching. God is for us. He has purified us and given us a new heart that can follow Him. But if we—contrary to this new heart—sin deliberately and knowingly, we are mocking God. Such behavior would already be unacceptable in the Oval Office. How much more so before the holy God.

This connection also makes it important not to miss gatherings with other believers. In Hebrews 10:25 we are told not to neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but to encourage one another, especially as the day of Christ’s return draws near. When we gather, we strengthen our faith, remind each other of God’s promises and faithfulness, and are able to correct one another.

Reflection

We can come to Jesus with every failure—He forgives us. Just let’s not forget who He is: the Holy God.

About this Plan

Hebrews

The Letter to the Hebrews is a passionate call to remain steadfast in faith! It reveals the surpassing greatness of Jesus, far above prophets, angels, and the law, and reminds us that our salvation rests solely in Him. The letter urges us, despite all challenges, to move forward with courage, to fix our eyes on Jesus, and to firmly align our lives with our heavenly goal.
