Day 16: A Sound Mind

One scripture that’s on my list that never fails to lift me up is II Timothy 1:7 NKJV. It says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

I used to be afraid of having another episode of mania and depression, but whenever that fear would creep into my head, I would think about this scripture. It’s true, fear is not from God. It’s the enemy’s way to cripple us. However, when we recognize what is from God, power, love, and a sound mind, we can walk boldly and declare with confidence that we have power, love, and a sound mind.

So I want to encourage you to know that you have the power to not be afraid of your mental health struggles and the power to overcome them. You are loved by God and are a reflection of His love. Lastly, by God’s grace, you have a sound mind and can have stability in your mind.

Prayer point:

Heavenly Father, Almighty God, thank you for giving me power, love, and a sound mind. Bless me to remember this scripture daily as I overcome my mental health challenges. Thank you for not giving me a spirit of fear and helping me fight against the schemes of the enemy. Strengthen me, protect me, and guide me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
