“Greater Works Through Faith”
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples on the eve of His crucifixion, a moment filled with confusion and fear. Yet He gives them a bold and unexpected promise: “Whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing…”
Jesus healed the sick, fed the hungry, preached truth, and raised the dead. And here He tells His followers, not just the Twelve, but whoever believes—that we will do even greater things. This isn’t about doing more impressive miracles. It’s about the scope and reach of God’s Kingdom through His people empowered by the Holy Spirit.
The key to this promise is belief: “Whoever believes in Me…” Belief isn’t passive; it’s active trust. It’s surrendering your limitations and stepping into the mission of God with bold faith. When we believe in Jesus, we become vessels through which His Spirit works, not by our strength, but by His power.
Do Greater Works Today:
- When you pray for a friend, speak hope to the hopeless, or serve the hurting, you are continuing the ministry of Jesus.
- When you share the gospel and someone’s eternity is changed—that is a greater work.
- Through the global Church, Jesus is now touching the world in ways that would not have been humanly possible during His earthly ministry.
What an incredible calling and responsibility!
Questions for Reflection:
- Do you truly believe Jesus can do great things through you?
- What fear or self-doubt might be holding you back from stepping into God's calling?
- What “greater work” is God prompting you to begin today?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for trusting me with Your mission. Strengthen my faith to believe that You want to work through me. Remove my fear and excuses, and fill me with Your Spirit. Let me walk in Your footsteps, doing the work of love, truth, and healing You began. Use me for Your glory. In Your name, Amen.
