How to Make Disciples That Make DisciplesSample

Day 7: Go!
Devotional
You’ve prayed. You’ve made space. You’ve thought deeply. Now comes the moment: go ask them.
Jesus didn’t just talk about discipleship - he called people into it. He looked fishermen, tax collectors, and outcasts in the eye and said, “Follow me.” And they did. Why? Because he invited them to.
There’s someone in your life right now who will benefit from that same invitation. Not to a program. Not to a process. But to a walk - an adventure - of following Jesus together.
Will it feel awkward to ask? Maybe. Will it feel a bit odd? Probably. But remember you’re not inviting them to follow you. You’re inviting them to take a step toward Jesus.
And they might say no. That’s okay. Discipleship is never forced and the disciple has to want to go on this journey too. If they do, start thinking and praying about who else you could ask.
But they might say yes. And that yes might change everything - for them, for you, and for others down the line. Because when we start making disciples who make disciples, the kingdom impact is exponential.
This is the start of a movement. And you are part of it.
So take the step. Send the text. Ask them for coffee. Be honest. Let them know you want to be intentional about walking with them in their faith.
Reflection Questions
- What fears come up as you think about asking this person?
- What would it take for you to act in courage, not comfort?
- How might this relationship impact their life - and yours?
Prayer for them
Jesus, go ahead of this invitation. Prepare [name’s] heart. If this is what You want, let their answer be a joyful yes. Walk with them as they grow. Amen.
Prayer for me
Lord, I may be nervous, I may be excited - but I trust You in all things. Give me courage to ask. Give me grace in the conversation. And if [name] says yes, give me wisdom as we begin. Amen.
