DAY 3 OF 12

Living a Life that Demands an Explanation

Biographies sell when they are written about extraordinary people. When we admire people, we want to get to know them better. We want to find out the secrets of their success.

Jesus suffered and died so that we could have life to the full - a meaningful life that fulfils the purpose we were created for. The gospel offers us purpose, friendship with God, delight in his love, joy in the midst of suffering, peace that surpasses understanding, and supernatural love that restores the image of God in us that was obscured by our selfishness, greed and bitterness.

Of course, while we are waiting for the return of Jesus, we will continue to struggle against sin, but we can expect to grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control as we walk with the Holy Spirit.

Sin causes us to lead lives that are, at best, ordinary and unremarkable, and at worst, remarkably hateful. But the tyranny of sin has been overcome through the death and resurrection of Jesus. We can experience freedom. We can live the life God created us for, living in His love. The One who has power over the grave can empower you to live a life that demands an explanation.

Action

Growing in holiness works best when we have accountability. Find a mentor or a friend who can offer you accountability, prayer, and advice for the areas of your life that need to be aligned with Jesus' values.

Prayer

Have you turned your life over to Jesus, so that His life will be lived through you, or do you hold on to your old ways? If you haven't chosen Jesus before, this is your chance. If you have, remember that choice is your way of life now!

Confess your struggle with sin and ask the Spirit to bear His fruit in your life. Thank Jesus for dealing with your sin and sharing His life with you.

Pray for courage to speak words that explain the extraordinary life of Jesus and freedom from sin.

About this Plan

The Biscuit Trail

You wouldn’t force a whole packet of biscuits in someone’s mouth; you would offer them one biscuit at a time. We would like to think the same principle applies when it comes to sharing your faith. This twelve day reading plan (inspired by The Biscuit Trail resource) will help you think through easy steps you can take to help others discover Jesus for the first time.
