At the time this Psalm was written, the world outside of Israel defined greatness as domination. The most powerful kings expanded their borders, silenced political opposition, reveled in self-ordained fame, and amassed gross amounts of wealth. Totally different from today, right?
Except… take a look around.
Celebrity influencers. Suburban cars the size of tanks. Mental health issues are increasing at epidemic rates. Ideological warfare is on every platform. And, underneath it all, is an unshakable sense that something isn’t right.
Maybe you weren’t made for this kind of kingdom. Maybe your unease is a clue—you were built for a better one.
Psalm 145 doesn’t praise a God who creates His kingdom by force. It praises a King who heals, lifts, and loves.
“The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love… He upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.” (Psalm 145:8-14, ESV)
This kingdom runs on restoration and beauty. Here, kindness is strength, and grace sets the tone. Our God leads with patience, not pressure. And here’s the wildest part:
This Kingdom? It will never end.
And you? With all your mess, your questions, and worn-out hopes? You’re invited—not just to spectate but to be transformed into royalty. That’s why David doesn’t stop at one verse of praise. He gives us 21 verses—and it still doesn’t feel like enough.
Our God isn’t just good. He’s great—beyond measure, beyond metaphor, beyond imagination.
Today, ponder this: What are three things unique to your life that you can praise God for right now?
