The Psalms

DAY 15 OF 27

DAY 15 – PSALMS 78-81

"But all they gave Him was lip service;
they lied to Him with their tongues.
Their hearts were not loyal to Him.
They did not keep His covenant.
Yet He was merciful and forgave their sins
and did not destroy them all.
Many times He held back His anger
and did not unleash His fury!"

‭‭Psalm ‭78‬:‭36‬-‭38‬

In Psalm 78, we see God’s continual mercy amidst Israel's unfaithfulness and forgetfulness. Despite all His mighty acts, they refused to trust Him, continually sinning against Him and testing God in their hearts. How were those once radically delivered from the oppression of Egypt now turning against their Deliverer? The same way we often find ourselves distracted, complacent, or ungrateful—the Israelites were no different. We need transformed hearts, not just transformed situations, to remain steadfast until the end.

Prayer: God, thank You for Your mercy. Deliver me from mere lip service and help me to be actionable and steadfast. I do not want to lie to You or carry a disloyal, ungrateful heart. Transform me entirely and help me live in remembrance of Your faithfulness. I do not want to grieve Your heart, but I want to please You. Amen.

About this Plan

The Psalms

The Psalms teach us to pray, worship, and be honest before God, expressing every joy, struggle, and question. They shape our faith, pointing to Jesus, who prayed and fulfilled them. Embracing them daily cultivates a life of worship, rooted in God’s Word. In this 27-day plan, we’ll journey through how to navigate both the trials and triumphs of life while awaiting our Lord’s return. Each day includes a short devotional, 2-3 key verses, a thought to ponder, and a closing prayer.
