Five: Wind Mover Devotional

DAY 3 OF 5

### Letting Go Sometimes one of the most difficult things to do is to let go. Whether it is letting go of the past, letting go of an asset, letting go of a relationship, or letting go of a habit. Whatever it is, it can prove to be difficult, especially when the thing you're letting go of has value or is important to you. Many people love to state “Christ wants us to come as we are”, and although this is not specifically found in scripture, the concept still rings true. No one cleans themselves before they get into a bath. It is only when we get into the bath that we will part with the dirt. We often forget that with Christ, there must be an exchange, there must be a transformation and there must be a new life to be lived in Him. And this has been done by the shedding of His blood and is upheld by the saturation in His word via reading, studying, and meditating of scripture - that is the mulling over, repeating, and dwelling on the same. In this there is a requirement to let go. Let go of the old. Let go of what is not needed. Let go of what is weighing you down. Let go of what is holding you back. Let go of what is not required to enter into His kingdom. We must come to an understanding that Christ, God, is not an alternative or a substitute for what we had or are currently holding onto, but He is superior in every way. He has no competition. No one completes Him. No one can stand in for Him and no one can stand out beside Him. He has no equal. There is no one and nothing like our God. He is God all by Himself. So let go! He is better than that relationship, He is greater than your circumstance, He is bigger than your situation, He is higher than what you seek to attain in life, He is wider than the love you experience with any person, and His love runs deeper than the pain you feel (or have felt) from the past. As mentioned at the beginning letting go can be difficult. It may take prayer, therapy or counselling to get through and loosen that grip, because just like with Berahino in FIVE: Wind Mover , strongholds can be involved, and we do what we must to defeat and overcome them. For with God nothing is impossible. I love the way (MSG) puts what Christ said to the Twelve; ““If you don’t go all the way with me, through thick and thin, you don’t deserve me. If your first concern is to look after yourself, you’ll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you’ll find both yourself and me.” Matthew 10:38-39 So let go of where you are, let go of what was - and dare I say it - let go of what you wish to be, in order to receive a life superior to anything you have ever seen, heard or thought of. #### #### References Scripture marked or referred to as (MSG) is taken from Scripture marked (MSG) taken from THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language Copyright © 1993, 2002, 2018 by Eugene H.
