Five: Wind Mover Devotional

DAY 2 OF 5

### New Creation Jesus Christ said in Matthew 11:28; “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Some of us are waiting for God to break into our lives and that may very well be so, I mean this guy interrupted the flow and measurement of time with His birthday! I know He broke into my life and altered the trajectory it was on - which was either prison or six feet under - and I know of a few others He has done that to as well. It was also the case for Berahino, the main character of FIVE: Wind Mover, who went about his everyday life until God interrupted it. But this may not always be the case for everyone. Christ is saying “Come.” For those that do not know Him and for those that do know Him, just “Come.” He wants to exchange whatever burdens you’re carrying, the cares of this world that are weighing you down, the expectations of social media that you have inadvertently taken upon yourself, the worries of staying current, the fears of missing out, the pressures that come from friends and family, the troubles that accompany the vicissitudes of life - “Come,” and He will give you rest. This exchange then goes on further in both Ephesians 4 and Colossians 3, where we are challenged to let go of the old man and to put on the new. To be honest, this is what Christ is talking about at an introductory level in Matthew. He wants you to remove all the stuff that you carry with the old man, enter into His rest and take His yoke upon you and learn from Him. This helps you not only put the new man on but to keep the new man on “which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:24) and “is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,” (Colossians 3:10). In essence the new man is a true reflection of God, and how (and who) God intended us to be. And for this reason, 2 Corinthians 5:17 says; “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” The (NLT) version states; "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” So why not begin a brand new life in Christ! And if you already know Him, be encouraged to continue strong in your new life! And for some who may have gone back to the old, He still continues to invite you to put back on the new. #### References Scripture marked or referred to as (NLT) is taken from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation copyright 1996, 2004, 2007, 2015 by Tyndale House Foundation.
