Don’t be a Fool There’s a story of an atheist, who hired an attorney to file a discrimination lawsuit to stop observances of Passover and Easter, on the grounds that there were no such holidays set aside for atheists. The judge listened to the attorney patiently, and declared, “Your client is foolishly ignorant. There is a holiday for your client who says there is no God. It appears on the calendar every year on April 1 and it is called April Fools’ Day.” He banged his gavel and said, “Case dismissed.” The Bible calls the atheist a fool. The fool, mentioned in Psalm 14:1 and again in Psalm 53:1, is not someone who lacks intelligence. He is one who denies the existence of God merely to cover his sin, so he can continue in it. This attitude stems from pride and a desire to live a life without restraint, leading to wickedness and perversion. It doesn’t require rocket science or any great research to establish that God does exist. Take a look at yourself in the mirror. You see someone so unique, so intricately woven, with every body part in the right place and order. Imagine your eyes being placed under your foot! How would you see? Or your arms attached to your back? Wouldn’t you look ridiculous? There has to be a Creator with divine intelligence! God’s invisible attributes are clearly visible in all of creation (Romans 1:20), so we have no excuse to deny His existence. He is Lord and Judge of all the earth and He has made man in His own image, and wants to have a love relationship with us. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die in our place on the cross and we can have eternal life, if we believe in Jesus. So, invite Him into your life as Lord and Savior today. Prayer Jesus, I thank You that You have revealed Yourself to me and saved me from denying Your existence. I give You every part of me and declare Your Lordship over my life. Amen.
