God Looks at the Heart Many of us have been judgmental at some point or the other, or have faced someone being judgmental towards us, no matter what the reason may be: clothes, color, status, likes, dislikes or just looks. But that isn’t how God sees us or how He want us to see others. A judgmental attitude starts to affect our walk with Christ. Sometimes it may seem difficult to look at people the way God sees them. We may stumble from time to time, but God is faithful. He sees our progress, He’s proud of us, and He’s going to help us stay on track. We shouldn’t be so focused on our outward appearance that we lose sight of our main goal: developing a close, personal relationship with Christ and carrying His Word to the ends of the earth. At the same time, God does not want us to hold offence against people who have been judgmental towards us. Leviticus 19:18 (MSG) says, “Don’t seek revenge or carry a grudge against any of your people. Love your neighbor as yourself. I am God.” God places compassion within each one of us. It’s up to us to decide whether to close our heart or open it to receive the compassion He’s placed in us. All we need to do is turn our thoughts around and open our hearts to Him. He is more interested in the development of our hearts than our outward appearance, although He has so wonderfully created us. Prayer Lord, help me love and look at people the way You do. Help me not to judge but have an open heart to receive Your compassion for them. Amen.
