Let Us Love One of the most striking features of God is His unconditional love for us! This love is best understood when expressed through actions. Jesus is the ultimate expression of love! He not only declared His love for us, but also expressed it by dying for us on the cross, so that we could have eternal life (John 3:16). A classic rendition of love! The second most important commandment given by God is: Love your neighbor as you love yourself. As we receive God’s love, we must be able to pour this love into others’ lives as well. We need to move beyond merely tolerating people to lovingly accepting them. We need to care for and treat people just like we care for and treat ourselves. We must also be quick to forgive. Someone once said, not forgiving someone is like consuming poison and expecting the other person to die. Ephesians 4:32 encourages us to be kind to one another, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave us. Love is not always about the big things. Even a ‘Thank you’, or a smile, running errands for your mother or sacrificing your seat for an elderly person, saying encouraging things like ‘You matter to me’ or ‘I value you’ can bless a person’s heart and make his or her day. Sometimes, loving people can be difficult. Let us not rely on our own understanding but acknowledge God in all that we do and He will go before us and make things easier for us. This might probably be easier said than done. But let’s not forget God created us in His image and likeness, and if God is love, so are we! We just need to make a conscious effort. God will honor your very desire. Prayer Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me the way You do. Teach me to love just like You do – unconditionally. Amen.
