Please ExplainSample

Think about a time when you were expecting something great to happen in your life, and while you were waiting, you experienced small versions of the great thing. Let's put an example to this, you bake cookies, you can taste the cookie dough, but the final product is the warm finished cookies fresh out of the oven, or maybe you are reading a book or watching a movie that is a trilogy, meaning it has three parts to the story. You get small glimpses of the end of the story, but it's only when you read or watch all the way you get the bigger picture. The kingdom of God is just like this.
You might be familiar with Bible verses for today as the Lord's prayer. One line in this prayer says, "Your kingdom come on Earth as it is in Heaven." When Jesus says this part of the prayer, he means to live as if we are already in the kingdom of God. This means we are to love God and one another as best as possible. We can find a little taste of the kingdom of God here on this Earth when we see people loving God and loving others. This is what the kingdom of God is like.
This week finds ways to bring the kingdom of God here on this Earth. So how can you love God and others this week?

About this Plan

Some things are hard to understand — like chemistry or verb conjugations. When we face a problem we're struggling to understand, it helps to know someone we trust can explain it to us. Jesus spent time helping his followers understand difficult ideas about God. Jesus did this by using stories and metaphors, called parables. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum we’ll unpack Jesus’ teachings.
