Prayers: A Journey Through EurasiaSample

[IMAGE CONTENT] # Praying for Russia & Belarus Russia is the world’s largest country, spanning 11 time zones and various ecosystems. The enormous nation is home to dozens of distinct ethnic groups, each unique in culture, traditions, and language. Decades of harsh dictatorship in Russia and Belarus nearly stripped the people of their unique identity. The spiritual void created by communism produced a generation of alcoholics and addicts. Because of shared needles and licentious behavior, AIDS in Russia spreads faster than in any other European country. Organized crime is beyond the control of local law enforcement, and women are trafficked to countries all over Eurasia and Europe. The Church in Russia and Belarus is growing despite government harassment. Islam is also growing, however, as immigrants pour in from Central Eurasia. Cult groups also have a strong presence. Many Russians and Belarussians have retained the atheism imposed by the communist government, but some have returned to the Russian Orthodox and the Catholic Church. These traditional churches need a revival to turn them away from the traditions of men and toward a revelation of who Jesus is. The need for workers in Russia and Belarus is great. Millions of people belong to unreached groups, and over 100,000 cities and towns do not have a church. ### Pray for Russia and Belarus: * Pray for the people of Russia and Belarus to understand their identity in Christ. * Pray for freedom from addiction to drugs and alcohol. Pray for churches to be equipped with wisdom and Spirit-infused strategies to minister to those wanting to break free from the cycle of addiction. * Pray for strong, biblical training for church leaders. Most pastors do not have the theological training necessary to lead their congregations; some have been led astray by false doctrine. * Pray for a Spirit-filled church to be planted in every town. Pray for workers who will give themselves fully to the tasks of evangelism, discipleship, and caring for the hurting. * Pray for a widened window of opportunity for the gospel. Government harassment of the Church is increasing. Pray for an end to persecution and for government authorities to encounter Jesus.
