Better Together

DAY 14 OF 14

## WORTH WAITING FOR When the angel comes to Mary bearing news of her giving birth to Jesus, she is engaged to Joseph. At the same time the text points to the fact she is still a virgin. They chose to wait with sex till after getting married although they were already in a serious relationship. Today it is more rule than exception moving in together and having sex already before marriage. Christians often do so with arguments like; we know we want to be together and we will get married at some point. I’d like to make the case for actually waiting. Both with sex, moving in and sleeping over frequently. Show your ”meant to be” that you’ll be faithful IN marriage by being faithful even BEFORE. A few years chastity compared to lifelong marriage is vanishingly brief. Value the small steps in the beginning of a relationship. Let there be something to look forward to, while getting to know each other. Experience the beauty of holding hands, wrapping your arms around each other and receiving a kiss. We also need to be humble to the fact that we might not get married, meaning I’m dating someone else's life partner. What boundaries do you have dating another person's future wife or husband? Dating also is supposed to give you a chance to end the relationship without leaving a hurting soul or even kids behind. NOW yells louder but LATER lasts longer. Don’t be like Esau who for a brief moment of satisfaction sold his entire future. The next day he was hungry again. You are more valuable than gold. Don’t allow anyone treating you like you are on a sale.
